Looking through the selected shots for my 366 project, I realised that I couldn’t call this installment anything other than ‘Thomas’. I think there are only two photos that don’t feature Thomas the Tank Engine in some form – if you look closely, you’ll find that Arlo is usually clutching one of his Brio trains. I’ve not orchestrated this theme in any way, this is just how much Thomas has worked his way into our lives.
One of the joys in having a toddler is seeing the pleasure in all the little discoveries they make. A simple thing like jumping was amazing to Arlo.
Arlo is quite keen on his book about a ladybird, so when I spotted one by the back door, I thought he might be interested in seeing it.
I wasn’t wrong. He was absolutely delighted with the thing, and kept laughing and shouting ‘Beebee!’. (That’s ladybird to those that don’t speak Arlo). He cried when I took it outside again. Maybe he is going to be a bug-geek like his dad (the first thing Sam packs when going away is his insects guide book).
He actually lined up his trains for a front-row view, as if they might like to see the ladybird too. He really thinks of those trains as his little friends.
The washing machine on spin cycle. Another little wonder to a toddler.

He hated it. I should have known, as he doesn’t like his hands being dirty or sticky. We had a bit more luck with the crayons, but I think it’s safe to say that he’s not into his arts and crafts yet – so I needn’t have felt guilty for not bothering up until now!
The paper and crayons were still out on the table from yesterday. Sam drew this picture of Thomas. Arlo loved it. He carried it around with him all afternoon.

The last two photos were taken by Sam. I am trying to include his photos (and any taken by friends and family) when I can to make it a real family contribution, rather than just my effort. Definitely not because it also helps when I almost forget to take a photo for the day…ahem.

Gosh our two are at such a similar stage. Theo has also starting ‘jumping’ this week, though his feet are yet to leave the floor! It’s the sweetest thing, he’s going to be so proud when he finally takes off. Strangely, he also calles ladybirds ‘bees’!
