Me and Mine – May

I left this month’s Me and Mine right until the last minute. (Literally, we were taking these photos at 6pm last night).

It has been one of those months where blogging has not been at the top of the priority list, there have been other things I’ve preferred to focus on creatively rather than the poor old neglected blog, and so I was all set up for this to be an apologetic, last minute, slightly underwhelming photo. But instead, I have found that the Me and Mine project has inspired me this month, and the results make me smile.

When I looked back over the photos we got, I realised that I didn’t want to use just one photo. Oh no no, it worked much better as a series. And so it was that I found myself creating a stop motion video in and around Rory’s evening wake ups last night. It usually takes me AGES to edit video, so I must have been feeling pretty crazy to attempt it – what can I say, it was a wild Friday night and the football was on, so…

This video captures a pretty solid part of our early evening routine. The boys and I normally find ourselves migrating upstairs at this point in the day – the downstairs toys have been exhausted and it’s an excuse to move away from the lure of the TV. Sometimes we play in Arlo’s room, sometimes the boys hang out on my bed whilst I put clothes away. Then it’s not long before we hear the familiar key in the door, the boys start bouncing around excitedly, Sam runs up the stairs, and everyone bundles on our bed.

Today, we were in my room, and we decided to play the standard game of “Hide from Dada”.

As a little side note – This video makes me look like I’m permanently attached to my phone – I’m not! It’s how I was triggering the shutter release (through the Canon app). I would NEVER ignore my children in a photo that was earmarked for a blog post ; )

oh I love it, I know that feeling well of coming home to 2 excited children. Honestly the best moment of my day to see their smiling faces, or for that matter their crying ones when they’ve not had such a good day.

Love the video. Last minute seems to be the theme for us all this month. I feel like everyone is saying their May has been the busiest month they have had this year so far. And it was for us too. We only got our family portrait the day before and it was a difficult one where no one wanted to particpate including the hubby. lol Lovely family you have here. #me&mine
