Looking for colourful children’s clothes for both boys and girls?

Fed up of dinosaurs and cars for boys or pink impractical clothes for girls?  You’ve come to the right place to find the best brands that make unisex colourful kids clothes.

Having four boys, I am well aware that the boys section of high street childrenswear shops can be a very dull place. There are a LOT of blues, greys, and ‘cool’ imitations of styles you’d likely find in Topman.

Whereas I naturally gravitate towards fun, colourful clothes for children.

I prefer to purchase clothes through independent online shops. The selection is far more interesting, not to mention superior quality. In recent years, independent kids clothing brands have seen a real emphasis toward organic cotton and sustainable materials.

Independent clothing brands can run more expensive than high street brands, due to higher manufacturing costs and efforts to be more sustainable and ethical, but the sales are a great time to pick up high quality colourful children’s clothing brands at lower prices.

Popular independent kids clothing brands have a great resale value. If you plan to sell on your colourful children’s clothes once outgrown, you get a return on your investment and reduce environmental impact by passing your clothes on to another happy wearer.

Where to buy colourful children’s clothes on the high street

Of the shops on the high street, Next and Zara probably offer the best selection of gender neutral colourful kids clothes. It is often easier to find colourful clothing for boys from high street shops during the Spring / Summer season, when clothing lines tend to focus on brighter patterns and colours. The Little Bird brand at Next is a particular colourful clothing favourite of mine.

My favourite online places to shop for colourful children’s clothes are:

  • Frugi
  • Lindex
  • Indikidual
  • Tootsa
  • The Bonnie Mob
  • Little Green Radicals
  • Maxmorra

Scandinavian children’s clothing brands are often colourful and gender neutral. You can find many bright colour kids clothing brands at outlets such as Babipur and Scandibugs

My favourite colourful children’s clothing brands offer clothes designed to let children be children, not mini grown-ups, girly girls, or trendy boys. Just quality, durable clothes that are fun to wear, no matter who you are.

I always smile when I see photos of your boys because it’s like they share a wardrobe with mine. And now I know why …. we shop in the same places, and for the same reasons.
