LEGO lunchbox and drinking bottle

Is this LEGO lunchbox meant for kids?

Because as soon as it arrived on our doorstep, it was unashamedly usurped by the  GROWN MAN in this house.

(I’ll admit that I was pretty eager to receive this too. I mean, just look at the LEGO man drinks bottle.)

It’s not as big as some lunchboxes, but it is just the right size for a toddler lunch. I would be happy to send Arlo off to preschool with the LEGO box as his lunchbox (when he starts staying for lunch time), as he can open the box really easily. Much more easily than a box with clasps, the LEGO lunchbox lid just lifts straight off. I like the look of the mini LEGO boxes that fit perfectly inside the lunchbox, these would be perfect as little snack containers.

The drinking bottle, on the other hand, I wouldn’t give to Arlo. It has a screw top, which he wouldn’t be able to open. And there’s no spout or straw, but an open top like on a normal water bottle. It’s definitely better suited for adults or older children. So, I will allow Sam to adopt the LEGO drinking bottle as his own.

Of course, you don’t have to use the LEGO box as a lunchbox. I can think of any number of small storage options. It would look great in the kitchen as a place to store tea bags, for example. It is the perfect size to store Arlo’s miniature Thomas the tank engine figures that we are always losing under the sofa. You could use it as a stationary box. You could use it to store, well, LEGO.

I know exactly how we are going to use ours, though. And actually, Sam will end up getting the most use out of it, as it is going to become his ‘gubbins’ box.

Every day when he gets home from work, he begins the ritual of absent-mindedly emptying the contents of his pockets, leaving a trail of wallets, oyster cards, headphones, and door keys around the house without taking note of where anything has been dumped. If it’s an important item, he will misplace it. Every day. And anything that doesn’t get distributed in this disturbing, haphazard manner, ends up cluttering up my dressing table at the end of the day.

Now, everything can go in the LEGO box, and he will know that the LEGO box is the first port of call if he can’t find something. I’m hoping I might add a couple of years onto my life by not having to answer endless “Have you seen my… / Where is my …. ?” questions anymore.

The Lego lunch box (£9) and drinking bottle (£9) come in a range of colours and are available from A Place for Everything.

We were sent the LEGO lunchbox and drinking bottle free of charge for the purpose of this review.
