Many thanks to this guest post for reminding me that I need to purchase de-icer and a sledge.

With the winter months fast approaching, there’s a chance we could see snow sometime soon, so it’s a good idea to get the kids prepared. You don’t want to deny little ones the fun of making snowmen when the first flurry falls because you don’t have the necessary clothing and accessories ready!
Coat
You need to make sure that the kids will be snuggly and warm even when the temperature drops into minus figures, so investing in a quality coat is an absolute must. Look out for styles with duck-down fillings and make sure there’s a hood.
Winter accessories
So that children can make snowballs without getting wet and ice-cold hands, purchase a pair of thick waterproof gloves. Attached mittens are preferable, as they won’t be dropped in puddles! Pick up a thermal hat and scarf for them, too.
Wellingtons
You need some tall wellingtons that will keep your little one’s feet and legs dry even when there’s deep snow to contend with. Treds stock a great range of fun kids wellies they’ll be eager to don – team with welly socks to provide additional warmth.
Hand warmers
Hand warmers are great for tucking into your kids’ pockets so they can get a heat boost whenever necessary. These hedgehog hand warmers from Lakeland are super-cute and can be used again and again. Plus, they have a knitted cover that protects against burns.
Equipment
Purchase your kids a sledge ahead of the first snowfall so they’re ready to hit the hills whenever it arrives – you don’t want them to be disappointed! You might also want to collect an old hat and scarf in preparation for snowmen-building.
Car de-icing accessories
So that you can go on family outings even when the frost and snow hits, make sure you have all the necessary de-icing equipment. This might mean salt and a shovel for clearing the drive, as well as de-icer and a scraper for the windscreen.
It’s also a good idea to invest in winter tyres, which offer better grip when the mercury drops below seven degrees C. This will make driving in wintery conditions safer. If your area often experiences severe snowfall, tyre chains might be necessary.
